Kathleen (Kathy) Moore Is a retired pastor living in Iowa. She had a winding path before arriving at ministry. She studied psychology and graduated with a degree in biology from Simpson College. She then attended Iowa State University, studying ecology, environmental science, and outdoor education. She paused her studies for a time when she became involved in politics, working for Senator Tom Harkin, and then running for the state legislature herself. Following an election she lost by 42 votes, she began working for the church and eventually felt the call to preach. She was a United Methodist pastor in Iowa for 35 years before retirement. She has written many hymns and will have a book of those published in the near future. She is currently working on 3 series of nonfiction books: 1) America's Wonders Series, covering all 433 of our nation's National Parks and Monuments; 2) Essential Bible: Stories for Adults, a series of the narratives of Old and New Testaments as if told by a storyteller around a campfire, told by a scholar who is a feminist, trained scientist, and progressive Christian; and 3) Rail Travels, a series of books about various rail journeys in America, giving information about geography, nearby parks and attractions, geology, wildlife, native American history, recent history, agriculture, towns and cities, famous people, and anecdotes.
